Top three tips for press release writing

Postby Jonica » Wed May 13, 2009 10:56 am

Press releases are the easiest and quickest way to target lots of media at once. They are also a good method for getting your product or service reviewed in publications.

1- If mailing the release, make sure you know the name of at least two people within the newsroom you would like it to go to, making sure you send them in separate envelopes. That way if one person is away or too busy to read it you have a back up.

2 - When emailing, paste your release in your email rather than sending as attachments. Attachments may be picked up by virus protection software, and your release will never make it to the intended recipient. Or the journalist is simply to busy to open the attachment.

3 - Always put your contact information at the top of the release with the date.

Hi! Jonica, I reiterate what Mike said - very comprehensive and useful tips, so thank you. Would you be able to give me some advice on how to find a good PR website (i.e. a website where I can submit my articles). I'm completely new to the 'press release business', so I'll appreciate any tip you give me. Is article submission usually free or do you usually have to pay for it? How much is a reasonable price? Is it advisable to submit the same article to several different PR websites? Sorry I've bombarded you with questions. I'll be very grateful for your help, thanks,

Lisa.

Excellent tips. Thanks for sharing. Would it also be okay if we paste the release on the email and have an attachment? Some people might prefer to have the attachment so they could easily print it out if needed. Would that be too much?

Before you invest time and money defending or proceeding with an anesthesia-related medical malpractice case, check with expert board-certified anesthesiologist Joseph A.
No newcomer to cases involving possible anesthesia-related malpractice, Dr. Stirt has 15 years of experience. Presented orally or as a written report, his in-depth analysis can save you hours of preparation and thousands of dollars. He is prepared to step in at the last minute when another expert suddenly withdraws from a case. Availability and rapid response make his service unique.
According to Dr. Stirt, “The question I get most often is, ‘Is it malpractice?’ My job is to sort out the bad outcomes due to occurrences that fall within the standard of care from those that do not.
